New York
My friend and I went to New York during Spring break(March 11-16, 2001)We watched almost every sightseeing spots in NY. The city was very exciting and had lots of things to do. We stayed at the YMCA(really cheap hotel like $38? per night) nearby Central park. We were out all day long from 7am to midnight during the trip!!
Day1: We went to see the Statue of Liberty.(picture middle left) It was kind of a cold and windy day. We took a boat to get to the Statue of Liberty. We could see the Statue from the bottom and from the top. After that, we went to World Trade center, Wall Street(picture bottom),China town, Little Italy and Times Square.
Day2: We went to see the Empire State Building, Rock Feller Center, and 5th Avenue. We took a picture in front of Tifferny company imitating Audrey Hepburn in the movie"Breakfast at Tifferny's:)(picture left top)
Day3: We ate breakfast at the Central Park and started our day! First, we went to see the Lincoln center= opera house. There was a tour for the entire opera house. We were very fascinated by the gorgeous interior! After that, we went to Times Square to buy a ticket for Broadway musical. On that night, we saw a musical"Les Miserable" (Picture bottom left) It was Awsome! The singer who sung "On My Own" was so great!! I was moved by that and cried. The musical became my favorite one. If you ever have a chance, I definitely recommend you to go to see Broadway Opera. It worth paying money for it!!!
Day4: We went to see the United Nations(UN). The security at the entrance was pretty strict. The interior was very cool! There were many things donated from foreign countries. I saw a Japanese garden donated by Japan. There are many conference rooms and arts donated by other countries, too! I am gesturing " Stop using guns!" in front of the gun sculpture(Picture top right). In the UN, there was UN owned private post office. I and my friend sent each other a postcard that is available only in the UN.(picture middle right).
On that night, we went to see an opera composed by Mozert. The opera was more focused on the singing in contrast to the musical that is more focused on the story.
Day5: On that day, we decided to wear fomally because we were going to the Metolopolitan Museum and the musical "Kiss me Kate". We took a metro and went to the musueum. The museum had a lot of precious pictures such as my favorite impressionist, Monet and Renoir. They also had a big Japanese art section! On that night, we wanted to ride on a horse and look around the central park(because it is too big to walk to see the whold park-..) We asked people at the hotel and found out that carriages will depart near our hotel for a tour of the central park. Then, we ran and ran to catch the last carriage. Finally, we could see the whole central park thanks to the horse!!!
Day6: We left New York for Minneapolis missing the city. The trip was really fun! Also,it was really fun receiving the postcard of the UN later!!
